Hello FNAME

Hello FNAME email from Hootsuite University
I was surprised that a leading social media company in an email campaign aimed at educating businesses and users in advanced use of social media would make such an elemental mistake with mail merge; especially from a company that claims to be of University standard.

I made a Tweet:
Hello FNAME - People often call me an F-name but that doesn't mean I like it #hootsuite http://t.co/H2tkF2AcTue Oct 04 13:06:42 via YoruFukurou

But then did a Twitter search and realised that this was a global mistake:
「Hello *|FNAME|*」 と HootSuite からのメール.Tue Oct 04 12:30:51 via web

Which invoked the same course of action that I took, regardless of nationality or language:
mail die begint met "Hello *|FNAME|*", unsubscribe...Tue Oct 04 12:21:57 via Twitter for Mac

Which just goes to show real-time global mail merge can make an instant, global balls-up or as someone else said on Twitter:

It’s the personal touches that make the difference. // Hello *|FNAME|* #hootsuite http://t.co/JNB1IxURTue Oct 04 12:37:57 via Twitter for iPad
